Convert BPM to milliseconds
Need to know the exact millisecond value for a note at your tempo? This BPM to milliseconds calculator gives you instant results for every note value — quarter notes, eighth notes, sixteenths, and more.
The formula is straightforward: divide 60,000 by your BPM to get the quarter note value in milliseconds. Then scale up or down for other divisions. This tool does it all automatically.
BPM to ms conversion guide
Quarter note (ms) = 60,000 ÷ BPM. For example, at 120 BPM: 60,000 ÷ 120 = 500ms per quarter note. A whole note would be 2,000ms (500 × 4), an eighth note would be 250ms (500 ÷ 2).
At 120 BPM: quarter = 500ms, eighth = 250ms, sixteenth = 125ms. At 140 BPM: quarter ≈ 428ms, eighth ≈ 214ms. At 90 BPM: quarter ≈ 667ms, eighth ≈ 333ms.
Many audio plugins and hardware use milliseconds for delay time, pre-delay, and release settings — not musical note values. Converting BPM to ms ensures your effects are perfectly synced to the tempo.
